Robbing a casino to play in an international Series of Poker tournament might sound odd but that's apparently just what happened recently.

Troy Wilcoxon of Washington state went from a large poker high to legal lows within the matter of only a few days. He placed 11th within the $500 WSOP Casino Employees event that kicked off this year's WSOP and won $5,010 only to be arrested by police shortly after returning home.

The 27 year-old and his friend Wilcoxon and friend James Nollette are facing burglary, theft, and money laundering charges stemming from charges that they stole $25,000 from Lancer Lanes Casino on May 23. They then rented a car for the drive to Vegas where their eight day stay saw Wilcoxon profit the casino employees event -- allegedly using money he stole from a casino to pay his way into the event.

"There’s an excellent chance, but we don’t know for certain whether proceeds of the casino heist covered Wilcoxon’s tournament fee and eight-day stay on the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas" said Clarkston police detective Richard Muszynski, who went directly to say that there has been no signs of forced entry on the casino robbed and the heist appeared to has been performed by an employee or someone very conversant in the casino.

The alleged casino thieves have proclaimed their innocence and are currently free on bail with a court date pending.

Plenty of shady characters have had success on the World Series of Poker over time but this may be the primary case of a casino robbery paving the way in which for a deep run and a pleasant profit a WSOP tournament.
