King Kaufman's Sports Daily: Now they'll cool their red-hot heels for a record eight days and wait for the Indians or Red Sox. Plus: Where's that Zelasko poetry?
The Colorado Rockies finally gave up that two-out RBI hit to the Arizona Diamondbacks Monday night in Denver, a three-run homer by Chris Snyder in the eighth that only served to make the end of the game a little more of a nail-biter as the Rockies swept to their first National League championship with a 6-4 win. Matt Holliday hit a three-run homer to sew up the series MVP.
The Rox beat the Diamondbacks in four straight games. They've won seven straight in the playoffs, 10 straight overall. They entered the playoffs having won three straight elimination games to end the season. They've won 21 out of 22. No matter how many times you look at that number, it just never stops looking crazy. Boxing champs go 21-1 against tomato cans. Baseball teams don't do it.

A must read book: "The Political Brain"
I have just finished "The Political Brain: The Role of Emotion in Deciding the Fate of the Nation" by Drew Westen, and it a must read for any political junkies, theorists, strategists and passionate believers. What Westen has done is use his training as a psychologist, his years of experience with psychological studies and his great intellect to make crystal clear: emotion wins the day, not a list of carefully thought out position papers. The model of the dispassionate mind, which is one that many consultants believe in, is wrong. Dead wrong.
Now I admit to several prejudices. First, this is exactly what we have done with the films and shorts, which is get the emotion, get the heart, and then and only then, add the facts. Westen articulates this with study after study, story after story,
