Did I Win or Lose?

I played in a blackjack tournament recently and had a good time. Now first-place eluded me, but that's alright, I managed to cruise into third place after a gap round and a semi-final round. That's cool. Anytime you're making the finals, all is definitely in my book. For this reason I USED TO BE surprised to look two large racks of chips come to the table for the payoffs. My personal payout was $260, so I figured $50 for the dealers and almost $200 in profit, for the reason that buy-in was just $20. But not so fast.

My chips were made of $100 in regular chips, and $160 in promo chips. After toking out $50 within the regular chips, I had $50 left and the $160 in chips I needed to play, since they couldn't be cashed out. I ACTUALLY just desired to play poker, but, the chips needed to be played at craps, roulette, or blackjack. Well, since I'm usually pretty lucky at blackjack, I took the rack of chips over and sat down at a table able to double up. I made 8 $20 bets, the count never went positive, I won one hand, after which lost a last bet. Now I had the $50 in regular chips and the $20 from my one winning hand. Bummer! One second I ASSUMED I USED TO BE a tournament winner and up $200 and the following I USED TO BE almost even.

There was only about $1000 in prize money, and the casino kicked-in an additional $500 in promo chips, but on this case, it might was better for me to get $175 in real chips. Sometimes while you get a freebie, it hurts. I AM NOT sure now, did I win or lose? I ASSUME I won, since I had a good time and walked with more (slightly) than I BEGAN with. Guess I shouldn't gripe. Enjoy your gaming this week!
