In poker your outs are the unseen cards so that it will complete or improve your hand to make it the winning hand. Each additional card or "Out" will improve your percentage of surviving the hand and popping out a winner.

The Odds chart below shows the proportion and odds of creating your hand according to your collection of outs.

You will find that you may easily remember a number of the commonest situations for outs comparable to the four flush or straight draw but there needs to be a neater way than memorizing the figures for each choice of outs. The excellent news is that there's a method to get an even estimation of the odds.

The Rule of 4 -Two.

The rule of four-two, as I LOVE to name it, is a neater strategy to figure the percentages for any situation where you recognize your outs. It's not completely accurate but it surely will provide you with a handy guide a rough "ballpark" figure of your chances for creating a hand. This is the way it works.

With two cards to return after the flop you multiply your choice of outs by four. With one card to come back after the turn, you multiply your collection of outs by two. This may occasionally provide you with a handy guide a rough figure to work with. You probably have a four-card flush after the flop you have got nine outs. With two cards to come, you multiply the nine by four and also you get 36 percent chance of constructing the flush. The chart shows the actual odds at 35 percent. With one card to return you multiply nine by two and get 18 percent. The chart shows that the real figure is 19.6. It's not completely accurate but it surely is pretty close, and it's a very simple calculation to do on your head.

In January 2000, I BEGAN to be informed the right way to play Texas Hold'em. I wrote about my experiences in a chain of article in this site. I'VE since written a book titled "From the Kitchen to the Cardroom- Get the brink at Low Limit Texas Hold'em" (January 2003 Bonus Books Inc.) The rule of thumb of 4 - Two above was reprinted from that book. To reserve an autographed copy or to match prices Click the links below or at the side bar.
