The state of Maryland has now expanded to incorporate a complete of six casinos. Currently, three are open and 3 are in planning and building stages. The first actual casino to open, Hollywood Casino Perryville, offered gaming first on September 17, 2010. Owned by casino giant Penn National Gaming, the gaming floor is 75,000 square feet with 1,500 slot machines.

Perryville is in Cecil County. Additional Maryland counties with approved to be built casinos are: Allegany - Evitts (scheduled 2014), Baltimore City (scheduled 2014), Prince George's County (scheduled 2015). Three casinos are already open within the state. Each licensed property pays 48.5 percent of the casino's revenues to the state's Education Trust Fund, that's used for education,puublic safety, heath and environmental programs.

Three Open Casinos

Maryland has three casinos which can be already open for business. The Hollywood Casino was the primary to open and gives 1,500 slot machines. Popular favorites like Vegas Hits, Village People, and Wheel of Fortune are found, with various denominations on some machines from pennies to dollars. Video poker could also be offered. Minors under the age of 21 are allowed to dine in either the Extras or Celebrity Bar, but won't enter the gaming floor.

Table games are coming soon to the casino, and a dealing school is scheduled for early 2013 and Penn National is already accepting applications. In lieu of exact dealers, some games can be found at the casino floor in a video fashion including blackjack, 3-Card Poker and roulette.

Club Hollywood is a wonderful slot player's club you'll be able to earn comp points with. Penn National has a lot of casinos under the Hollywood name around the country, including their newest addition in Columbus, Ohio.

Ocean Downs is a racino within the town of Berlin, Maryland. The county of Worchester was awarded one the primary five casino licenses, and the pony race track, inbuilt 1947 was granted the license for 800 slot machines. The casino opened in January 2011.
